Serge Tebu Biography

Afro-Jazz musician and composer, Serge Tebu cut his musical teeth in his hometown of Douala in the Cameroon. Since then, Serge has been fully involved in the Manchester music scene participating in events such as Manchester Jazz Festival with Mike Wilson, (with his own band) KOKORIKO, Exodus Live and Exodus Festival.

Serge is also an integral part of Beating Wing Orchestra, a unique band created for the inaugural and highly successful Manchester International Festival, under the direction of the renowned Palestinian singer Reem Kelani. Serge runs his own band which combines African melodies and rhythms with jazz harmonies.

Serge is from Cameroon. He studied jazz harmony, improvisation and composition, and is a skilled pianist and bass guitarist. In 2003, he set up and ran a music studio, composing and arranging for artist from all over central Africa. He also formed part of the Beating Wing Orchestra playing alongside 12 other international musicians. The band performed at the very first Manchester International Festival in June 2007,2009.

He performed regulary at Manchester Jazz Festival since 2007 with musicians like Myke Wilson,Arun Gosh, Stuart McCallum, Rory Duffy, Michael Cretu, Clive Hunte, Uli Elbrachtect. He is the founder of the band called AMANI (jazz fusion in Manchester). Serge also enjoys teaching music and is proud to be part of Manchester's diverse music scene.
